Recent Hauls and Gifts (major pic heavy)

So I was just trying to wrap my head around how much polish I've bought and received in swaps recently. I did a couple secret santas, foreign swaps and such. So I spent the day taking pics of my recent loot, now I know that I haven't captured everything here. So as I'm organizing my new melmers later I might add some to the post :P

Kiko holographics were a wonderful surprise from my darling friend T

This blingy turtle and fabulous ring, gifts from my secret santa Dema....this ring means so much to me...i can't thank her enough!!

Swatch-a-thon from Secret Harry

So I just got my Secret Harry package, it is like a secret Santa but not...any hoo, I actually had a rare free evening so I swatched all but one of them! No reason that one got left out, it just did lol. So I'll let the pictures do the talking.
Oh and the polishes were wrapped in the cute burlap stockings!

Santa Nail - Copy Cat mani!!

Today I have a Christmas Mani that I saw over at Adventures in Acetone from my friend Jacki, and I HAD to try them!!! Mine didn't turn out nearly as perfect as hers but I'm happy!!

I used Zoya Posh and Verushka for the base colors, Zoya Purity for the white tips and white flocking powder from Micheal's. Super fun and adorable! Thanks Jacki for being so creative!

Diabetes Awareness mani

Today the nail polish community is band together to raise awareness for Diabetes. I have family and dear friends affected by this disease. I pray for the day when this disease can be eradicated. For more information about World Diabetes Day, visit this website!

For this mani I used Ninja Polish Bing! Caribbean Reef, 3 coats.

NOTD: NoH8...a collaboration against mean spirited bullying

I'm sure many of you have noticed, and if you haven't consider yourself blessed, that there is a lot of drama and in some cases hate in the nail polish community. I truly don't understand why it has to be and hope we can move forward someday as a more unified community where ridiculing others isn't accepted or encouraged.

While eradicating jealousy, hate and drama is a lot to expect...we can still encourage each other in being positive. One thing people should keep in mind is that even through the veil of the internet, people's feelings still can get hurt...and are being hurt :(

I touched on my story in the About Me of my blog and sadly this taunting and mocking didn't stop in grade/high school. I had not experienced it in my adult life until I came into the Nail Polish community. What people really need to understand is that while it may feel like an unattached, anonymous (or even funny) comment to you...to the person at the subject of that comment it could be a hurtful moment. There is a real person with real feelings on the other end...

November 8th has been chosen, along with the color purple, for us to band together and represent NoH8 in the nail polish community. I have not just chosen just any purple polish from my collection to wear for this but rather I created one instead. Below is a picture, it is a black jelly with a fine purple sparkle accented with purple square glitter. Maybe it is corny but to me the black represents the bullying and hate that keeps shrouding our community, the purple sparkle and squares represents each and every one of us, large and small, that have been affected by bullying, hatred or mean-spirited people...shining through the shroud of darkness.

See the links below to the other bloggers who are supporting this movement. We have all been touched by this, sometimes multiple times in various ways....let's all share the love and support NoH8!

Glitter Gal Holographics Fall 2012 - Full swatches and Review

Glitter Gal Holographics
2012 Fall release

Ok I am FINALLY bringing you decent swatches of these! I attempted to swatch them last weekend however I had VERY limited sun...I would swatch one and my daughter and I would wait and as soon as the sun peeked out we would both yell SUN!! and I'd run out and take some pics....only to notice later that her camera was NOT capturing their true colors, holo or beauty! ACK! So the saga continues....today I decided was the perfect day. I had lots of time, sun and felt in a good mood to swatch.....5 down, 4 to go and as I ran out to give the mail lady a heavy box, I threw my back out! ACK!! I hobbled back into the house crying, literally.....but I would NOT be deterred! I made it through the last four and have since been relaxing with a hot water bottle and editing the pics. So without further ado (I think we've had enough...) Here they are.....warning, pic heavy!

Big Lots...woah....

Ok, just a quick heads up. I have heard rumors about Gosh Holographic and Essie Starry Starry Night being spotted at Big Lots.

I went when the Gosh Holo news came out, found nothing. Not sure why Big Lots would have a foreign brand like Gosh, but it never hurts to check.

Today I hear word that Essie Starry Starry Night has been spotted. Was blessed to find this polish while dusty hunting but I know many people who all want it, so I dragged my friend Cassie there today at lunch. We spent a good portion of the time in the main health & beauty isle. Found an Essie (Hi Maintenance) and some Revlon scented, matte and jellies.

I was checking out, Cassie decided to have another look. I asked the cashier if there was more polish and she said YES! So I walked swiftly in that direction hollering for Cassie. I found her there, digging through endless bins of 20% off clearance prices makeup! Oh heavens could only behold the wonder! While we did not find Essie Starry Starry Night, I do believe someone could have found it. There were many many old Essies there.

I'm going back after work, we never had time to eat, had to bring lunch back to the office. Here are some teaser pics of what we found!

La Femme - Lazuli

La Femme Lazuli
La Femme - Lazuli
This polish is similar to the previous La Femme I posted, Ametista, in texture and type. It is a shimmery metallic. However the color is a soft, light blue.

Application was non-problimatic, however please excuse the massive fingerprint smudge on my index finger :P  All swatches have a base of Duri Revuvacote and Seche Vite on top. The color is two coats.

This and other La Femme polishes are available at NinjaPolish.com

La Femme - Ametista

La Femme Ametista
 LaFemme Ametista
Today is the first in a series of posts of the LaFemme brand. This is a Brazillian line that I recently discovered. I was first lured in by their holos, but branched out into the other polishes they have.

Today's polish is Ametista, a polish I would almost consider a Blurple. First layer you will see the purple hues, second coat puts it more to the blue. It has a shimmery almost metallic finish. It is not opaque enough to stamp with but easily gives you full coverage in two coats.

Gradient Turtle stamping

So tonight I have a mani that means something special to me. First I would like to thank my very good friend Cassandra for gifting me this plate. The plate is part of the Salon Express kit found at several retailers. I saw someone wearing this stamp and had to have it...now I will tell you why ;)

As many if you know, I went on a family vacation recently with my husband & daughter. I won a raffle from a coworker and we were able to go on a 7 Day Caribbean cruise! I keep saying I'll blog about the entire vacation someday, until then I'll just share this story, the highlight of my trip!

Our third port stop was the Isle of Roatan in Honduras. We went scuba diving on the 2nd largest barrier reef...during that dive my husband spied a 2' wild sea turtle scoot between a large arch of rock and coral. Our guide took us over near her, gestured for us to pet her. Then he proceeded to guide her up, she wasn't afraid of any of us! She swam right toward us, right between my husband and I. I reached out and stroked the back of her shell. It was so incredibly magical and amazing. That moment is one of the most amazing to date.

So in honor of that moment I have this gradient. I used the light green, green and blue polishes from the Color Club Take Wing collection. I didn't sponge it, I just brushed the gradient on. I stamped with Essie Good as Gold using SE21.

I hope you enjoy the manicure and the story ;)

OPI Black Spotted

Hi everyone, here is a quick, impromptu post! I just got this today all the way from France, please help me welcome OPI Black Spotted!

I used the Claire's dupes of Color Club Take Wing collection as my base. I mottled them randomly like a patchwork quilt.

Your polish has to be completely dry for this to work, so I used Seche Vite before applying. Thin coat over, the more brush swipes you do, the smaller the spots. Topped this off with seche vite and voila!

Unfortunately OPI Black Spotted is only available in other countries than the USA. I heard this was due to patent restrictions. It was initially launched in Sephora in France but I have heard it was recently spotted in Dutch Sephoras. Hopefully this will be available in more countries which will mean more USA ladies will have a better chance to obtain it through the nail network. I still have many friends looking for this, if you or someone you know has access and is willing to ship to me, please let me know!!!

Girl on Fire mani

 "Girl on Fire" Mani

I saw a preview of the DriKK  plate B some time ago, and have been dying to finally get it so I could use the flame stamp. While I love doing nail art and am not so bad at freehand flames, the idea of having a gorgeous flame like this at my disposal....well, it excited me! So our shipment of plates came in yesterday, however i couldn't play with it because I had a bunch of pre-orders that I promised would go immediately out! So I spent last night packing them up. Tonight was my night to play!!!

So, here is my first mani in honor of 'The Girl on Fire'....
Used:
Duri Rejuvacote (base coat)
DRK-B Flames stamp
Model's Own Copper Pot
(from new Beetle Juice collection)
Glitter Gals Shade Shifters Brilliant colors sponged
Seche Vite (top coat)... details on how I did it below!

Fish Egg Mani (Caviar Mani)

Fish Eggs Mani

(aka Caviar Mani)

This is something I thought about doing on my nails moths ago, even bought the little ball glitters. Then when I saw some posts I got excited cause someone else thought of it too! Apparently this has been around for sometime, I was just living in a cave, lol. I also understand there is some controversy because some company is trying to trademark the term Caviar Mani so that those that have been calling it that can no longer do so...hmmm.

I don't know all about that, but here is my fish egg mani ;) This is a single coat of Glitter Gal Red Sparkle with some black caviar on my accent finger! I hope you enjoy! You can soon get Glitter Gal Red Sparkle at NinjaPolish.com :)

Teaser pic!! What could it be? - Chanel Peridot vs Jessica Iridescent

So I have been a busy little bee and haven't had time to do full blog posts as often as I would like but I hope to do some more soon!! I just wanted to tease you with a pic for an upcoming comparison post!!

Yes.....these ARE two different polishes....and yes. one of them IS Chanel Peridot...and yes, they are THIS exact to each other in person!!! Can you guess what the other one is? :)

Updated:
This is Jessica Iridescent and I'm telling you, it is an EXACT dupe of Chanel Peridot. I wore them both on various fingers to work and around the house. There is no difference. It is like they were all out of the same batch and bottled in separate bottles.

Jessica Iridescent is available on my new polish site www.NinjaPolish.com for a mere $6! Compare that to Chanel's $25 price tag. It is part of the Peacock Queen collection which also contains a Chanel Graphite dupe (Smoky Feather) and a Chanel Quartz dupe (Bronze Tailed). I have Graphite so I also did a compare and it is exact as well. So I can only assume Bronze Tailed is an exact dupe to Quartz, which I don't own.

These are all limited edition so get them while you can. We are currently sold out of Iridescent and Smokey Feather however at this point we can and are getting more inventory. Sign up for Email Notifications to be notified when more stock arrives :)
